“Wow!” exclaimed Arther, “so, Göbeklitepe is the oldest ancient site in the world?”

“So it seems,” concurred Ayşe.

“So, in a nutshell, the Giza pyramids are said to be about 5,000 years old, the archaeological establishment challenged anyone to offer anywhere older of comparable sophistication and wham bam thank you ma’am, a German called Klaus uncovered Göbeklitepe!”

“In a nutshell, yes.”

“… and this remarkable jewel of archaeological antiquity, this challenge to conventional wisdom, this potential international game changer, is located in Turkey, the country where East meets West.”

“Evet canım – yes my dear.”

“The implications could be enormous.”

“Indeed.”

Arther paused.

“Do the Turks know?” he wondered.

She replied, “The world hardly knows and that probably includes most Turks. Göbeklitepe is completely new to us all, despite being exceedingly old.”
